Apply to Join CPSRAB

Community members are invited to apply to join the Citizens Public Safety Review and Appeal Board. Board members serve three year terms and meet once per month in the evenings. Priority is given first to residents of the City of Kalamazoo and then to applicants with clear interests in the City of Kalamazoo.

You can apply by completing the form to the right. CPSRAB members are appointed by the City Commission. All applications will be reviewed and applicants that are selected to move forward will be notified.

Membership requirements

  • U. S. Citizen or legal U.S. Resident

  • Full-time residents of the City of Kalamazoo have first priority for all appointments

  • Second priority shall be given to non-residents having identifiable interests located in the City of Kalamazoo

  • Willingness to spend approximately four or five hours a calendar quarter reviewing cases and attending meetings

  • Willingness to make a three-year commitment

  • Willingness to attend orientation session

Membership disqualifiers

  • Serving a sentence for a criminal conviction or while on probation or parole

  • Subject to an active personal protection order

  • Holding any political office or an announced candidate for political office

  • Working for another law enforcement agency

  • A current City of Kalamazoo employee

  • An immediate family member of any Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety personnel

  • A retired or former law enforcement officer
